Schrodinger's Cat is a popular topic in quantum physics, so I will also describe the special PT Symmetric Ternary (PTST) using a cat.
The 1⁺ is the cats head, & the ⁻1 is the cats tail, so of course there is a body (1) between them. It would be absurd to think the cat was just a floating head & tail, with its body being a 0, nothing!!.
The Phurry cat is also like a Phurlon, it can stretch & contract that 1 body.
The Phurry Cat is a way to understand PT Symmetric Ternary: not ⁻1, 0, 1⁺ but ⁻1, 1, 1⁺.
If you see the cat from the front, the side or the rear, it's not 3 different cats. It's 3 observations of the 1 cat. Not 3 cat particles of a face particle, a body particle & a bum particle. Just 1 yawning, stretching Phurry cat
So what SP sees as maybe 12 cats or more, PT sees as just 6 cats
Zero is not a midpoint on a line.... at this stage, there is no line, no space, no scale, just unexpressed potential. This is the Phen, the 0P unobserved state. It is not “nothing,” it is potential energy (No-thing) before projection. It is the Unobserved State & like dark energy or dark matter, the Phen is not hidden, it is present but unobserved. It is not a centre between opposites; it is the source from which opposites emerge.
When observed, the Phen becomes self-conscious. That act of observation causes it to split from potential energy into Potential & Energy. One state returns to being the unobserved potential (Phen), & the other becomes the observed energy, the photon (⚟)
Potential energy becomes potential (dark) + energy (light).
The photon at this stage is not a ball, it is a 1P (point).
This marks the shift from a 0P Phen to a 1P projected state.
The photon then also becomes self aware & separates not by splitting, but by elongating itself.
This creates a Phield Phibre, a 2P line with two polar ends:
A ⁻1 end point
A 1⁺ end point
And the stretched body itself is the 1.
Maybe a little weird to imagine but it's not really a point any more. just a line between 2 points (⁻1,1⁺)
The plus & minus symbols are positioned on the outside edges to represent visually the directionality of the "1's" positions
This could be represented many other ways visually or symbolically such as:

There can't be a halfway point as at the quantum level there is nothing smaller than 1, no fractions.
The 1 is the whole structure. The stretched photon. The ends are polarity, not parts.
If the ⁻1 & 1⁺ ends reunite, they don’t cancel to zero, they re-form or remain the 1 (the 1P).
& if that 1 returns to the Phen, the system collapses back into the Unobserved State.
PTST is not about binary contrast, instead it introduces a grey area within a new symmetrical/balanced ternary system.
ΦN — the Unobserved State of potential energy (not zero, but source)
1 — the complete Projection Phibre (the stretched photon) (Not a middle point or centre)
⁻1 / 1⁺ — the end caps of a 2P projection, with mirrored "half-spin" (See Spin)
Merging 1⁺ & ⁻1 doesn’t create zero, it restores the 1. Then merging the 1 (Photon light energy) with ΦN (Potential) returns to the Phen unobserved state as potential energy waiting to emerge again
