Before anything has shape, spin, or address in the Phenomena, there is the Phen. Pure potential. And at the moment of observation, something remarkable happens: potential energy separates into two. What remains is still potential. What departs is the energy component of that potential, & that is the photon.
This is the photon's birth state: 0P. It has emerged into the Phorum at a specific location & moment in time. It exists somewhere. But it has no geometry yet, no length, no direction, no polarity. Think of it as light that has just left the projector & entered the room, but hasn't yet begun its journey to the screen or passed through any frames. It is present, it is real, it is somewhere. It just hasn't become anything with edges yet.
In SP the photon is typically described as already in motion, already a wave-particle with frequency & spin. PT steps back further & asks: what was it the instant it separated? The answer is: pure energy with presence & position. A 0P object. Not nothing, but not yet something with shape.
A 0P photon doesn't stay 0P for long. The second observation begins: its ternary nature starts to divide & it stretches. In doing so it transforms from pure presence into something with geometry. It becomes a Phibre (●─●), stretching outward with a body, a direction & a polarity distributed along its length, its ternary nature now expressed as a negative end & a positive end with the neutral body between them, its stretched length now a Phurlon (⟷). No points have formed yet. Points require intersection, & that comes later.
What triggers this stretch? In PT, it is the photon's own "self-awareness", its realisation of its presence & its ternary states. This is not metaphor. It is PT's proposal for the first quantum of consciousness. Because to divide, something must register that there is a self to divide from. No matter how primitive the self, how small the action, or how dim the awareness, division without some form of self-discrimination is no mechanism at all. It is PT's suggestion that this principle scales all the way up & may one day form the foundation of a structural account of consciousness itself. But that is a page for another time.
When you step on the scales of a morning you probably never thought you were weighing light. But when that lands, when you really let it land, you start looking around. My chai tea is light. My bathrobe is light. My smart watch isn't just projecting light at me, it's measuring light-time with light-matter. I should probably stop before I miss the bus.
Mass is not a property that matter has. It is what happens to a photon when it gets trapped & coiled by the Philter. The only difference between a beam of sunlight & a rock is how tightly the photon energy is wound. See Phress & Philter for how that happens.
Distance is light. The Phurlon (⟷), PT's unit of length, is simply a stretched photon. There is no ruler that isn't made of the same stuff it's measuring. See Length & Time.
Time is light. The Phlash (⚟ᶠ) is one projection event, one photon emitted, one tick of the universe's only clock. There is no background metronome. The universe doesn't have time, it makes it, one photon at a time. See Length & Time.
Entanglement is light. Two points connected by a single Phibre are the same photon stretched across any distance. Tug one end & the other knows immediately, not because a signal travelled, but because they were never separate to begin with. See Cotter Pin & Axle.
Structure is light. The entire scaffold of the Phenomena, every axis, every edge, every membrane is Phibres, & Phibres are stretched photons. The universe is not built from things that light passes through. It is built from light itself. See Phibres & Phenomena.
This is what PT means when it points toward a photonic foundation. Not that light is important, but that light is all there is. Everything else is a different state of the same thing.
Same: massless, travels at c, carries energy, has spin, basis of electromagnetism.
Same but deeper: it carries information too, via ternary polarity, spin states & self-entanglement.
Different: in SP the photon is a messenger between things. In PT it's still the messenger but only because it is the things.
Different: wave/particle duality isn't a paradox in PT. It's just the same photon from two different structural angles.
Different: entanglement isn't mysterious in PT. The two ends of a Phibre are the same photon. They were never separate.
Different: in SP c is a speed limit. In PT it's a tick rate.
Different: in SP superposition collapse has no agreed mechanism. In PT the photon knows what it is. That's enough.
SP & PT are on the same page but it's folded into different origami. SP makes a blind man's zoo. PT makes an elephant.
